Happy 2017--well almost three weeks in. Teri always has that happy spirit and can take a great big, slushy, messy, freezy snowstorm and make a little snow shepherd and her sheep out on our downtown sidewalk. I just grumble and complain about the shoveling. All of which remind me about the concept of New Year's. I have never liked January 1st. I don't really know why. Perhaps it is because Christmas is over by then, and decorations come down, and everyone goes back to school or work. Perhaps it is because it is just change, and I don't really like change. Or...perhaps it is because everyone around me is busy broadcasting their New Year's resolutions--which usually involve being organized, and committed, and disciplined, and mostly end up in failure. So this year I decided that I was going to be joyful and to share that joy with those around me. I felt super happy throughout December and I thought that if I could just carry that feeling with me throughout the new year, it would definitely make a difference to me and it might just make a difference to those I am with. Our world is so full of hate and strife right now, that what we really need is a bit of joy to lighten our days. Well, it was a great thought, but as you can see I am already a little cranky about the cold and the snow. And I am quite cranky about our world which is so full of hate and discord. And I am completely forgetting that my New Year's resolution was to be joyful--and it is only 3 weeks in. Honestly, New Year's resolutions would be easier to keep if the holiday landed in the summer.
Who can't be joyful in the long, warm, green days of Summer?
I am not giving up on myself just yet. I will let you know how I am doing with my spread the joy campaign, and in the meantime, I hope that your New Year's promises are going well and that you and your world are at least a bit better for it.
My one ongoing goal is to take more time to stitch, and that is working out for me so far. Come see what is going at the Bush....

• Sunflower Seed -30 count is a soft beautiful linen and feels a lot like Glenshee linen from long ago. • Champagne Cork-35 count this is the same deep natural color. Or you could choose to stitch it on

New fabrics... for us
Some new interesting fabrics just arrived at the shop. They are not overdyed, but they have a very pretty hand. They are all fine counts and will be lovely for a beautiful sampler.
